When we give together, we help survivors move forward with dignity and care.
Every dollar or donated item makes a difference
Throughout the year, we run various program and fundraising campaigns which bring our community together in support of survivors. Each campaign helps fund the practical, life-changing work we do every day. Whether it’s providing clothing, housewares and essential items through our delivering hope program, bulk deliveries of much-needed items to shelters or supporting survivors through healing-focused services like our Make Over Days, every dollar and donated item makes a difference.
Handbags of Hope

Abuse Hurts is launching its annual Handbags of Hope campaign. Fill a new or previously loved handbag with essential items and donate it at one of our various drop-off locations until December 17th.
Essential item suggestions: Shampoo/conditioner, personal care/hygiene items, feminine hygiene items, oral care products, make-up, lip balm, soap/bodywash, tissues, deodorant, etc.
If you would like to participate as a drop-off location, please contact Lisa Leib at student@abusehurts.ca
Don’t have a handbag? Donations are always welcome!

Every child deserves to feel safe, seen and loved. By donating just $10, you can adopt a bear that will be gifted to a child who is surviving abuse. Receive a tax receipt for donations of two or more bears.
Under “Adopt a Bear Program,” just add a name for your bear, and we will give that bear, along with an adoption certificate, to a child in need of comfort and courage.
Each year Abuse Hurts collects gifts for children, families and individuals rebuilding their lives after violence and abuse. While the response for younger children is always generous, donations for teens are often the lowest received, leaving many young people without something that feels meant for them. This holiday season we are asking for your help to change that.
Teens navigating trauma and transition need reminders that they matter, are valued and that their community cares. Teen friendly ideas include: gift cards (movies, music, clothing, coffee shops), cozy hoodies, self care sets, board gams, headphones and books, etc.
