In 2005, the Canadian Centre for Abuse Awareness presented to various levels of government, a report from the frontlines on legislative and policy reform to protect our children. This report, prepared by the CCAA’s Public Safety Director, John Muise and called Martin’s Hope, is a comprehensive quality document developed from Round Table Discussions that took place in ten major cities across Ontario, in the “hope” that legislation will be affected. The CCAA is dedicated to getting this report into the hands of every political leader and individual Canadian so that change through legislation, education and awareness can be realized.
The CCAA is pleased to have played a major roll in the new Age of Consent legislation that passed in May 2008 at the Federal Government level. The wording for the new legislation was taken directly from Martin’s Hope.
