Meeting Survivors with Compassion and Care.

When individuals flee abuse, they often leave with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Delivering Hope Day provides survivors with essential items such as clothing, toiletries, bedding, housewares, furniture, and personal care products—giving them a tangible way to begin again. Clients are referred to the program and are invited to hand-select what they need, helping them regain a sense of control and dignity.
The program also extends its reach by distributing thousands of items each month to shelters, people experiencing homelessness and communities across Ontario, including First Nations. For women rebuilding their lives, Delivering Hope Day can also include a confidence-boosting makeover, thanks to the kindness of professional volunteers who offer hairstyling, makeup, and wardrobe support.
Makeover Days are special experiences created to uplift women who have lived through abuse. In partnership with community agencies, small groups of 6–8 women are welcomed to Abuse Hurts for a day of pampering and self-care. These days create a safe space for connection. Women share experiences together, forming bonds with others who understand their journey. With the support of caring volunteers and staff these days help build self esteem and confidence and remind every participant: you are not alone.

Each year, babies are abandoned and lost due to circumstances of trauma, desperation, and untreated pain. Their lives often end without a name, a goodbye, or a proper resting place. Huggums Hope Memorial was created to honour these children, acknowledging their short lives with the dignity they were denied.
This significant initiative reflects the heart of our founder, Ellen Campbell, and serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of prevention, awareness, and compassion.
Abuse Hurts works closely with York Regional Police and other partners to support women rescued from human trafficking. These brave survivors often escape with nothing more than the clothes on their backs. Through private appointments at our facility, we provide urgently needed essentials such as clothing, footwear, and personal care items—helping them feel safe, seen, and supported in their first steps toward recovery.
Together, we are helping survivors reclaim their lives—with compassion, care, and community.
