Standing with Survivors

Human trafficking is a hidden crisis that robs individuals—most often women and girls—of their freedom, safety, and dignity. Abuse Hurts works in close collaboration with York Regional Police Services and community agencies to support survivors immediately after they’ve been rescued from their captors.

These women often arrive with nothing—no clothing, no personal items, and no sense of safety. Abuse Hurts provides private, respectful appointments at our facility, where survivors receive essential items such as:

• Proper clothing and footwear.
• Personal care and hygiene products.
• Comfort items to support emotional recovery

The initial care is not only practical, it’s a powerful step toward restoring a survivor’s sense of self-worth and hope. Survivors of human trafficking deserve more than rescue; they deserve a path to recovery, security and a life free from fear.
