Human Trafficking

Abuse Hurts has been working with the York Regional Police Services in assisting women who have been rescued from their captors. Special appointments are made for these survivors to come to our facilities where they are assisted in obtaining much needed items such as clothing and personal care items as they usually have no possessions (including proper clothing and footwear) at the time of their rescue.

Abuse Hurts Human Trafficking Ambassador, Liz Pia, assists in liaising the charity with agencies and services that are specifically commissioned to work in the area of Human Trafficking.

Liz brings over 26 years of experience working with major insurers and legal teams, specializing in Catastrophic Injury, Rehabilitation Case Management, Special Investigations and Dispute Resolution. Liz currently works as a Senior Investigative Consultant with W3 Intelligence Research Group Inc. She has the ability to consult with business sectors, police agencies and the community at large, specifically on Social Media and Open Source Investigations, and other SIU type cases to include insurance fraud, organized crime, cyber bullying, and human trafficking.

Liz volunteers her time at Abuse Hurts (Canadian Centre for Abuse Awareness), as their Cyber Safety Advisor for anti-bullying and human trafficking speaking engagements.
